Our Mission

The Forced Drainage Division was formed to meet the growing need for protection from flooding caused by rain, storms, tropical depressions, and hurricanes.

The Forced Drainage Division operates and maintains 82 pump stations throughout the parish. 27 stations can monitor the status from a central location to ensure proper operation of the pumps. This telemetry system warns us of problems as they occur, which improves employee response time and reduces pump downtime. It allows us to remotely start and stop pumps if needed during emergency situations, improving safety and reliability. We strive to continue adding this technology to more pump stations in the future.

The Forced Drainage Division services include:

  • Maintaining forced drainage pump stations, pumps, and pump systems.
  • Maintaining canals and waterways inside the forced drainage areas.
  • Maintaining East and West beacon lights on Lake Decade.
  • Inspecting and maintaining forced drainage levels.
  • Monitoring and maintaining Automation / SCADA / Telemetry systems of parish storm water pump stations.

To report problems with pump stations, canals, levees, or outfall ditches or request a work order, contact Katherine Brown, Administrative Coordinator I, at (985) 873-6718 or email her at kbrown@tpcg.org.
