Utilities/Animal Shelter Announce Precautionary Measures for COVID-19

Due to the risks associated with the COVID-19 Coronavirus, the Department of Utilities will implement the following temporary measures:
Utilities Complex
Restrict all vendor/visitor access to office to appointment only.
Gas/Electric Distribution
Temporarily prohibit gas and electric disconnects for non-payment services.
All Utility employees will be provided with personal protective equipment (PPE) for all cases requiring a response to enter a home.
Animal Control
Animal Shelter will no longer accept walk-ins. All adoptions will now be accepted by appointment only.
Animal Control Officers will only be dispatched for high priority/emergency calls. All low priority/non-emergency activity will be suspended.
Reduce Animal Shelter volunteers to a minimum and suspend Junior Volunteer Program.
Reduce all intake to emergencies only.
Suspend owner surrenders.
Reduce adoption rates to encourage adoption to reduce the number of animals in the shelter in the event an influx of animals are seen as a response to COVID-19.

These measures are put in place in an effort to continue to perform our job tasks, as well as to reduce exposure and to protect our employees.
