See What Your Local Library Has to Offer This February

Visit your local library this month. Exciting activities are scheduled at each library branch all month. Check out the list below for a few highlights from each location. 

Bourg Library

  • Tuesday, Feb. 4, 3 to 4 p.m. Groundhog Craft Workshop: PreK-4th Grade.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 12, 4 to 5 p.m. Valentine Treats Workshop: 5th-12th grade.
  • Thursday, Feb. 27, 1 to 3 p.m. Spring/Easter Painting Workshop: All ages welcome. Patrons must supply their own canvas.

Chauvin Library

  • Monday, Feb. 3, 4 to 5 p.m. Black History Month Program: Celebrate Garrett Morgan, inventor of the traffic light, with a special traffic light craft.
  • Monday, Feb. 10, 10 to 11 a.m. Relax at the Chauvin Library: Come work on a jigsaw puzzle.
  • Tuesday, Feb. 18, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Canvas Painting Craft.

Dulac Library

  • Tuesday, Feb. 11, 4 to 5 p.m. STEM Challenge: Light-up Valentine Cards.
  • Monday, Feb. 17, 1 to 2 p.m. Mardi Gras Fleur-de-lis Painting Craft.
  • Monday, Feb. 24, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. "Krewe of Baby Boulettes" Parade: Kids are welcome to dress up in their favorite costume and celebrate the carnival season! Call (985) 563-2014 for more information.

Dularge Library

  • Monday, Feb. 10, 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. Valentine Story/Craft Time.
  • Monday, Feb. 10, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eager Reader Book Discussion: "Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker" By: Jennifer Chiaverini.
  • Monday, Feb. 17, 4 to 5 p.m. Black History Bingo.

East Houma Library

  • Friday, Feb. 7, 3 to 4 p.m. Diamond Painting for Adults: Hearts.
  • Tuesday, Feb. 11, 6 to 7 p.m. Mardi Gras Craft for K-6th Graders.
  • Saturday, Feb. 22, 2 to 3 p.m. African-American Paper Quilt Squares: Join us for our Back History Month program as we learn how to make quilts that served a very important role in history. (All ages).

Gibson Library

  • Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2 to 2:30 p.m. Heart Craft.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 19, 4 to 5 p.m. Carnival Mask Craft: Supplies provided. Registration required.
  • Tuesday, Feb. 26, 12:30 p.m. Scrabble Club.

Main Library

  • Saturday, Feb. 1, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mardi Gras Bash: Let the good times roll at this adults-only, after-hours special. Celebrate the season with king cake tasting, a fun photo booth, and live music from the Cajun French Music Association, Bayou Chapter. Registration required. 
  • Monday, Feb. 3, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Job Fair: Looking for a chance at a new opportunity? We can help! Local businesses will be available to discuss positions in various fields, such as customer service, healthcare, sales, food service, and more.
  • Thursday, Feb. 6, 4 to 5 p.m. Black History Month Celebration: Join us at our Black History Month Celebration. There will be a special story time, craft, and activities.

Montegut Library

  • Tuesday, Feb. 4, 4 to 5 p.m. Black History Month Scavenger Hunt.
  • Tuesday, Feb. 11, 10 to 11 a.m. Mardi Gras Tumblers.
  • Monday, Feb. 24, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Mini King Cakes: Registration required.

North Library

  • Sunday, Feb. 16, 3 to 4 p.m. Lego Robotics.
  • Monday, Feb. 10, 1 to 3 p.m. RELIC: Reading in Literature and Culture: History professor Dr. Paul Leslie will host this three-week series on WWI. Themes include the coming of the war, decisive battles and leadership, and the making of peace. 
  • Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2 to 4 p.m. Black History Month Jeopardy for Teens: Teens are invited to test their knowledge of Black History and win prizes.
