OHSEP Press Release - 8:30 am

Wednesday December 16, 2009 08:30 am - 2815 Views

Terrebonne Parish has received great amounts of rain over the last couple of days. While it appears that the rain has lifted, there are still road closures, and residents are encouraged to continue to remain cautious. The Parish’s Public Works Department is continuing to work hard in an effort to ensure that the drainage system and roadways are in operating condition. Several roadways within the Parish have been flooded by the rainfall, and several of these streets remain closed off. These streets include Savanne Rd from Martin Luther King Blvd to Hwy 311, Bull Run rd which is impassable from the 2100 Block to Hwy 20, and Venture Blvd. Bayou Gardens has one lane that is passable, and James Edison Dr remains impassable. Residents are reminded not to drive through flooded streets for their own safety and to prevent wave action that may push water into residences and businesses. Local law enforcement are out patrolling flooded areas and enforcing barricades. All schools and governmental offices are open. For more complete and detailed information regarding street closures and conditions within Terrebonne Parish, please visit the Terrebonne Parish website, www.tpcg.org/emergencies.
