Due to the risks associated with the COVID-19 Coronavirus, the Department of Utilities will implement the following temporary measures:

Utilities Complex

• Restrict all vendor/visitor access to office to appointment only.

Gas/Electric Distribution

• Temporarily prohibit gas and electric disconnects for non-payment services.
• All Utility employees will be provided with personal protective equipment (PPE) for all cases requiring a response to enter a home.

Animal Control

• Animal Shelter will no longer accept walk-ins. All adoptions will now be accepted by appointment only.
• Animal Control Officers will only be dispatched for high priority/emergency calls. All low priority/non-emergency activity will be suspended.
• Reduce Animal Shelter volunteers to a minimum and suspend Junior Volunteer Program.
• Reduce all intake to emergencies only.
• Suspend owner surrenders.
• Reduce adoption rates to encourage adoption to reduce the number of animals in the shelter in the event an influx of animals are seen as a response to COVID-19.
• All Animal Control employees will be provided with personal protective equipment (PPE) for all cases requiring a response to enter a home. 

These measures are put in place in an effort to continue to perform our job tasks, as well as to reduce exposure and to protect our employees.
