The Terrebonne Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is continuing to monitor all communications from the Federal and State agencies regarding the COVID-19 (coronavirus) event.  We are coordinating Terrebonne Parish’s response with the Louisiana Department of Health, the La. Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, and all local, state and regional partners.  We are meeting through conference calls daily with the Louisiana Department of Health Region 3 Office of Public Health, Terrebonne General Medical Center and Ochsner Charity Hospital along with the regional nursing home disaster response coordinator (DRC), emergency medical service DRC, and home health DRC.  The regional disaster response coordinator are in contact with each of their respective healthcare agencies and reporting back any issues within the region through our daily conference call.

The Parish has met with the Bayou Area Readiness and Recovery (BARR) group to being planning different aspects of assistance that may be needed within the community. 

We encourage everyone to continue to practice "social distancing" by staying home and only traveling to get essential items that you may need.  The less people you and your family come in contact with during this event, the less likely you will get infected with coronavirus.  Most importantly, if you or a family member is sick, contact your primary physician and stay home from work, refrain from visiting family and friends, and most importantly do not go out into the community.  The more we all stay home and isolate ourselves from others, the spread of the coronavirus will likely decrease in our community.
