Terrebonne Parish Information 1)  Coast Guard representatives in Cocodrie reported:

  • Maximum recovery capacity from the TOP HAT is 15,000 barrels per day with the current setup in place.
  • With the addition of the Storage Vessel Q4000, the recovery capacity will be 25,000 barrels per day at the surface.
  • Drill Rig DDII (relief well) is connecting the Blowout Preventer to the wellhead.  A test will be conducted today or tomorrow.
  • Drill Rig DDIII (relief well) drilling operations were suspended due to a Blowout Preventer control panel issue.  Drilling operations will not resume on DDIII until this issue is resolved.
  • Vents on the Lower Marine Riser Package are being adjusted to provide optimum efficiency.
  • Personnel are conducting waterside surveillance for offshore and shoreline impact of oil.
  • Total personnel in Cocodrie: 764.
  • BP received approval to increase the allowable amount of sub-surface dispersant during the last operational period.
  • The 910th Air Wing of the United States Air Force has completed its aerial dispersant mission.  Contracted civilian aircraft are now performing all aerial dispersant spray operations.
  • Weather is expected to be poor to marginal for skimming operations until June 7.
  • NOAA reports that the Primary oil plume is 120 miles from Clearwater/Tampa, Florida.  Tar balls and sheen have been discovered in Escambia County, Florida.
 Boats/Vessels
  • Deployment of Skimmers: 1 positioned between Wine Island and Trinity Island, 1 between Wine Island and Timbalier Island, 3 skimming designated routes in Lake Barre’ and Terrebonne Bay.

Boom
  • Boom crew is now focusing on Tier 3 and Tier 4.  Booming plans are nearly 40% complete.
  • Ongoing boom inventory in Cocodrie staging area.   Latest boom numbers:   1)  Hard Boom:                 a)  Deployed 6/5/10:    1500’                 b)  Total Deployed:       164,060'   2)  Sorbent Boom:                 a)  Deployed 6/5/10:    0*                 b)  Total Deployed:       83,900’* *No change due to inclement weather.
  • Beached boom was reported on the Gulf side of Trinity Island from Trinity Bayou to the West.  Also, 1000 feet of boom had broken free and was floating on the bay side of Trinity Island.
  • Beached boom was reported on the gulf side of Timbalier Island.
  • Half of the deployed boom on Wine Island near Cat Island Pass has broken free, washed up on the beach and is in need of maintenance.
  • 1 Jackup barge staged behind Trinity Island, 1 spud barge staged on Trinity Bayou, and 1 supply barge staged on the bay side of Trinity Island.  All are deploying containment boom.
 Cleanup Progress
  • Continued beach reconnaissance and manual recovery of discovered oil.
2)  Oil impact reports: 
  • Freshly oiled vegetation, with approximately 30% coverage, and debris washed ashore Trinity Island in the last 48 hours.
  • New tar balls, approximately 1.5 inches in diameter, and fresh oil was reported 200 feet from the eastern tip and heading west on West Timbalier Island.  Also, on West Timbalier Island’s Gulf side, there was reported impacted vegetation covering approximately 2% of the beach for 1000 yards.  There were 1 inch tar balls on the beach but no oil was floating in the water.
  • New accumulations of oiled vegetation and tar balls were reported up to 3 feet on the eastern shore line of an unnamed shell island north of Whiskey Island.
