Terrebonne Parish Information 1) Coast Guard representatives in Cocodrie reported: • Total personnel in Cocodrie: 748 • National Incident Commander reports that the oil recovery for the last 24 hours is 27,000 barrels. • Heat continues to be an issue with over 105 degree heat index. Thunderstorms and rain have been pervasive. • Members of the media scheduled to visit Cocodrie today include representatives from HBO, CNN, Lion Dance Films, National Public Radio, Sea Power, NBC News and U.S. Coast Guard Reservist Magazine. • Drilling Rig DDIII has reached a depth of 16,000 feet. Drilling Rig DDII has reached a depth of 10,000 feet. The reports of drilling being 200 feet from the well are inaccurate because that is coming from a horizontal angle, and there will still be a 3,000 foot vertical run before BP personnel can reach the well. • In Point Aux Chene, there are 167 personnel and 38 boats. Boats/Vessels • Deployment of Skimmers: • 7 total: • 1 between Wine and Trinity. • 2 on station behind Timbalier Bay. • 4 in Lake Barre and Terrebonne Bay. • 94 boats on site assisting with cleanup in Cocodrie. Boom •Boom Inventory: A) Boom ≤ 35 inches: 1) Deployed Today:3,002’ 2) Total Deployed:173,275’ B) Boom ≥ 35 inches: 1) Deployed Today:300’ 2) Total Deployed:10,259’ C) Sorbent 1) Deployed Today:1,200’ 2) Total Deployed:90,063’ • Boom Maintenance continues to make up the majority of the operations being conducted out of Cocodrie. • Reported from the Houma Navigation Canal near the Pontoon Bridge that new, wet staged boom appearing to be in good shape was observed at this location. • Reported from Bay De L’Ouest that there was new containment boom staged at his location. Cleanup Progress • Continued beach reconnaissance and manual recovery of discovered oil. • All recovery operations are to follow the general shoreline treatment recommendations established for Timbalier Bay and Terrebonne Bay. 2) Oil impact reports: • No new reports of oil in Terrebonne Parish. 3) Vessels of Opportunity Program: • Anyone interested in applying to becoming a Vessels of Opportunity (VOO) or crew member should call 281-366-5511. • The BP Annex (located at 5703 Hwy. 56 in Chauvin) will host Vessels of Opportunity (VOO) training sessions on Saturday, June 23, and Saturday, June 30, at 9am and 2pm both days.
