Comcast Recovery and Restoration Update / September 16, 2021

Based on information Comcast provided on its recovery and restoration efforts to the Louisiana Public Service Commission, the following can be reported:

  • Comcast has several hundred employees and business partners in Houma and LaPlace assessing damage. However, electric power must be restored to homes and businesses before Comcast service can be restored and the area must be deemed safe by a power provider (in Terrebonne: Entergy, SLECA, and TPCG) before Comcast crews can begin restoration efforts.
  • Comcast’s network of Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots are open and available to anyone for free. This service is available to anyone (including non-Xfinity customers) from vans located in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 1633 Martin Luther King Blvd in Houma. Anyone in range of this van will have free internet access.
  • Comcast has issued a one-month credit for residential and business customers impacted by Hurricane Ida in the Houma and LaPlace areas retroactive to August 29th until September 29th. Comcast is also suspending several account fees, including late payment and missing equipment fees for impacted customers and will replace damaged or missing equipment for free.
  • The United Cajun Navy received a $125,000 donation from Comcast to assist with relief efforts in the impacted areas of Louisiana, including Houma and LaPlace.
