Terrebonne Parish Information 1) Coast Guard representatives in Cocodrie reported: • Total personnel in Cocodrie: 882 • National Incident Commander reports that the oil recovery for the last 24 hours is 25,000 barrels. • Heat continues to be an issue with 100-103 degree heat index. • In Point Aux Chene, there are 167 personnel and 38 boats. • Small plumes of brown/red oil have been confirmed as being present in Little Pass and Cat Island Pass. U.S. Coast Guard has stated that rough seas, 6 feet and higher, are preventing skimmers from attacking the oil. • BP will be hosting an Open House event at the Civic Center this Thursday, July 1st from 6pm to 8pm. Boats/Vessels • Deployment of Skimmers: • 7 total: • 1 between Wine and Trinity. • 2 on station behind Timbalier Bay. • 4 in Lake Barre and Terrebonne Bay. • 15 boats on site assisting with cleanup in Cocodrie. Boom • Boom Inventory: • Boom ≤35”: • Deployed Today:2,430’ • Total Deployed:171,715’ • Boom ≥35”: • Deployed Today:0 • Total Deployed:10,159’ • Sorbent Boom: • Deployed Today:160’ • Total Deployed:82,447’ • Boom Maintenance continues to make up the majority of the operations being conducted out of Cocodrie. Cleanup Progress • Continued beach reconnaissance and manual recovery of discovered oil. • All recovery operations are to follow the general shoreline treatment recommendations established for Timbalier Bay and Terrebonne Bay. 2) Oil impact reports: • Assessment team reports the following: • Found oil in Little Pass and Cat Island Pass consisting of a small plume of heavy oil, brownish-red in color. The observed oil’s trajectory appears to direct it into Terrebonne Bay. • Observed emulsified oil lines with 4’-5’ wide plumes heading from the gulf into Cat Island Pass. • Beach north of little pass had fresh dime and quarter sized tar balls on the beach. Approximately 30% coverage on the beach in the tidal range. • Oil was heading into the passes, trending towards Timbalier Island, Little Bird Island, and Wine Island. 3) Vessels of Opportunity Program: • Anyone interested in applying to becoming a Vessels of Opportunity (VOO) or crew member should call 281-366-5511. • The BP Annex (located at 5703 Hwy. 56 in Chauvin) will host Vessels of Opportunity (VOO) training sessions on Saturday, June 30, at 9am and 2pm. Helpful Information BP will be hosting an Open House event at the Civic Center this Thursday, July 1st from 6pm to 8pm.
