Terrebonne Parish Information Coast Guard representatives in Cocodrie reported: • Total personnel in Cocodrie: 116 on water • National Incident Commander reports that the oil recovery for the last 24 hours is greater than 25,000 barrels. Weather Today - Showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Steady temperature around 82. Southeast wind between 10 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Tonight - Showers and thunderstorms likely. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 80. East southeast wind between 10 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Wednesday - Showers and thunderstorms likely. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 85. Breezy, with a southeast wind between 15 and 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Wednesday Night - Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 76. Southeast wind between 10 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Boats/Vessels • Deployment of Skimmers: • 15 total - 3 Bordelon Skimmers - 6 Clean Harbor Drum Skimmers - 1 ES&H skimmer - 2 Egmopol skimmers - 3 MSRC Skimmers • 72 boats on site assisting with cleanup in Cocodrie. Boom • Boom Inventory: • Boom ≤35”: • Deployed Today: 200’ • Total Deployed: 184,663’ • Boom ≥35”: • Deployed Today: 0 • Total Deployed: 10,159’ • Sorbent Boom: • Deployed Today: 2,320’ • Total Deployed: 99,967’ Cleanup Progress • Clean harbors continue to retrieve and clean-up oil with absorbent material, rakes & shovels etc. in Bayou Petite Caillou, Bay Timbour, and Lake Pelto. • Skimmers continue to skim and retrieve oil in Cat Island Pass, Little Pass, Terrebonne Bay, and Lake Barre • Cocodrie will continue to increase their response as the weather allows. Confirmed Oil impact: • Assessment team reports the following: • Reported from Terrebonne Bay observed small patches of oil that appeared to be broken off from larger oil mass. The oil patches ranged from 2” to 1’ in diameter and were brownish-red in color. The line of oil patches was trending westward. • Reported from the eastern tip of West Timbalier Island observed an approximate ¼ mile stretch of thick, brownish-red oil that stretched approximately 10’ into the marsh coating the spartina. • Reported heavily coated vegetation and fresh oil up to 50’ into the marsh behind the riprap on West Timbalier Island. • Reported from Trinity Bayou new oil was washing up onto the island, and fresh tar balls coated the island. The tar balls were up to 4” in diameter with an estimated coverage of (20) tar balls per square meter.
