AN ADDITIONAL ROUND OF OFSHORE RIG WORKER GRANTS TO BE OFFERED: Terrebonne Parish President Michel Claudet would like to encourage those residents of Terrebonne Parish whose employment was negatively affected by the federal moratorium after last year's Gulf of Mexico oil spill to apply for the offshore rig workers grants that are available. It is important to note that these grants are targeted to the employees from companies directly supporting the 33 deepwater rigs that were affected by the moratorium. The Rig Worker Assistance Fund is being administered by the Gulf Coast Restoration and Protection and Foundation. According to their website (http://www.gcrpf.org): The Gulf Coast Restoration and Protection Foundation will begin a second round of grants to workers who directly supported the 33 deepwater rigs that were affected by the federal moratorium after last year's Gulf of Mexico oil leak. The application period for the second round opens March 15, 2011 and closes May 13, 2011. We expect to mail all award checks to approved applicants by June 15. Applications will be taken online at this site beginning March 15. Applicants can get a grant application package and return it by mail. A hotline at 866-577-8141 will go live March 15 to provide more information or to begin accepting applications. We recommend that those direct support and supply workers who may be eligible begin gathering documents for the application process. At this time, we expect the documents to include paystubs indicating “year to date” income for 2009 and 2010, W-2’s and 1099’s for 2009 and 2010, income tax returns for 2009 and 2010, information related to spousal income, insurance proceeds, unemployment payments, payments from other relief funds and information about average monthly expenses for at least 3 months between May 6, 2010 and October 12, 2010 # # #
