Master Landscape Plan for the Bayouwalk Completed

Tuesday April 05, 2011 03:46 pm - 1648 Views

The Terrebonne Parish Tree Board and the Houma Downtown Development Corporation (HDDC) are pleased to announce the completion of the Landscape Master Plan for the Houma Bayouwalk. The Tree Board and the HDDC partnered in 2009 to apply for and obtain a matching grant from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry’s Urban and Community Forestry grant program to fund this effort. Armed with this funding, the Tree Board and the HDDC contracted with Brown+Danos landdesign of Baton Rouge to create the Master Plan, which can be viewed online here. “We are very excited to see this project completed. It will give us a blue print to follow was we continue to increase our urban forest in the downtown area,” said Ellen Doskey, Tree Board Chairwoman. “We encourage downtown residents and business owners to review this plan to determine if the addition of some landscaping as show in the plan would better their property,” said Anne Picou, TPCG Main Street Manager. The Tree Board and the HDDC plan to start implementing the plan as soon as possible. Business owners who are interested in participating should contact either Anne Picou at (985) 873-6408 or Jennifer Robinson at (985) 873-6567 for a copy of the plan and any additional help they may be able to provide.
