Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government has been alerted that private work crews have been traveling the Gibson area attempting to persuade elderly residents to pay them to provide sand bags for their homes. These crews are stating that residents who do not sand bag their homes will not be eligible for any form of disaster assistance. These claims are false. Residents are reminded to contact the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office at (985) 876-2500 if they feel that they are being scammed. ###
