Terrebonne Issues a Voluntary Evacuation and Opens a Shelter

The Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government will issue a voluntary evacuation beginning at 8:00 a.m on Saturday morning, of the low lying areas of Terrebonne Parish especially those residents who reside outside the protective levee system. This voluntary evacuation is due to the possibility of storm surge flooding of roadways and yards from Tropical Storm Lee. The Shelter will be located at the Terrebonne Parish East Houma Recreation Gym located at 126 Boundary Road off of the Airbase. The Shelter will open at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. If you are in need of a ride to the shelter, please contact the Office of Emergency Preparedness at (985) 873-6357 Saturday morning. Residents should bring food, water, bedding and any other necessary supplies such as medications and baby supplies they should need to sustain them and their families for 72 hours (3 Days), as these items WILL NOT be provided at the shelter. # # #
