Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government is proud to announce that the parish has earned a “6” rating on FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program Community Rating System. The National Flood Insurance Program's (NFIP) Community Rating System (CRS) is a voluntary incentive program that recognizes and encourages community floodplain management activities that exceed the minimum NFIP requirements. As a result, flood insurance premium rates are discounted to reflect the reduced flood risk resulting from the community actions to meet the three goals of the CRS: (1) Reduce flood losses (2) Facilitate accurate insurance rating (3) Promote the awareness of flood insurance. As of October 1, 2011 Terrebonne Parish’s rating has improved from a “7” to “6” which will give residents up to a 20% reduction in their flood insurance premiums.
