Houma, LA - "Parish President Michel Claudet is pleased to announce that Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government will begin the use of dual fuel vehicles in 2013. These vehicles can be fueled with compressed natural gas (CNG) or traditional gasoline. In conjunction with this announcement, parish officials hope to gradually replace the parish government’s older vehicles with vehicles that can be fueled by CNG. For the parish CNG and flex fuel vehicles make sense due to ever rising gasoline prices and low and stable CNG prices. Terrebonne Parish will also benefit from decreased vehicle emissions and lower vehicle maintenance costs. The parish’s choice to invest in CNG fueled vehicles was made easier with the decision by Gaubert Oil to add a public CNG fueling station in Terrebonne. With this announcement, Terrebonne Parish will join Kenner, Lafayette, Baton Rouge, Alexandria, and Shreveport/Bossier City as communities that have CNG fueling stations. “The announcement that a CNG fueling station will be built in Terrebonne further shows that our parish is a leader in our region and our state,” stated Parish President Michel Claudet. “Terrebonne Parish Government and the citizens of Terrebonne Parish are poised to take advantage of the benefits of clean, cheap, and abundant compressed natural gas,” added President Claudet.
