Head Start Accepting Applications For 2015-16 School Session

The Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government Head Start Program is accepting applications for children from low income families for the 2015-2016 school session. Children must be three years old by Sept. 30, 2015 to be age eligible. There is no fee for Head Start services and children do not have to be potty trained. Families with children who have severe or multiple disabilities are encouraged to apply. Parents are responsible for transporting children to/from school. Parents must provide the following documents with their child’s application: child’s birth certificate, Social Security Card, Medicaid or insurance card, immunization record, proof of residency, parent’s driver’s license or ID, and proof of income. If families receive food stamps, SSI, TANF, child support or unemployment compensation, proof of receipt of these is also required. The Terrebonne Parish Head Start Program does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex or disabilities. Parents can apply at the Department of Housing and Human Services located at 809 Barrow Street in Houma and at all Head Start classrooms. Please call (985) 580-7273 for more information.
