Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event Saturday, November 7th, 2015

In cooperation with Keep Terrebonne Beautiful, Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government will conduct a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event on Saturday, November 7th, 2015 at the site of Town Hall, 807 Barrow Street, Houma, LA. Collections will take place between 8:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M. in the Town Hall parking lot located at 807 Barrow Street, Houma, LA.

THIS IS A RESIDENTIAL-ONLY COLLECTION EVENT AND IS RESTRICTED TO TERREBONNE PARISH RESIDENTS. Items generated by commercial businesses are strictly prohibited and will not be accepted. Residents will be required to show proof of residency in Terrebonne Parish (current month water bill or state ID with current address).

Items that WILL be accepted include:

  • Household Chemicals & Products: oven cleaners, corrosive cleaners, cleaning solvents, toilet & drain cleaners, bleach, degreasers, disinfectants, polishes, aerosol cans, cooking oil, glue, mothballs and pool chemicals
  • Paints: oil-based & latex paints, stains & varnishes, paint thinners, turpentine, wood preservatives and arsenic
  • Automotive Chemicals & Products: automobile tires (strictly limited to 5 per participant), used oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, diesel, and oil & fuel filters
  • Lawn & Garden Chemicals & Products: herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, fertilizer, and bug sprays
  • Batteries: NiCad, lead acid, alkaline, and rechargeable
  • Electronics: Computers, monitors, TVs, VCR & DVDs, radios, etc.
  • Flammables: propane tanks and lighter fluid
  • Miscellaneous: acids, metallic mercury, fluorescent tubes & compact fluorescent bulbs
  • White Goods:Household appliances (washers, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers, water heaters)

Items that WILL NOT be accepted include:

  • Explosives (including ammunition and fireworks)
  • Furniture
  • Green waste (trees / branches, leaves)
  • Radioactive devices (smoke/fire detectors)
  • Large gas cylinders (such as for helium, Freon or acetylene)
  • Construction and demolition debris
  • Laboratory waste
  • Liquids in containers larger than five gallons
