Rougarou Fest Now Accepting Vendor and Parade Applications

Krewe Ga Rou Parade to Roll on October 22

Start your candy stash early with the Krewe Ga Rou Parade. The parade is a family-friendly event held in conjunction with the annual Rougarou Fest in Downtown Houma.

The parade will roll through Downtown Houma at 7 p.m. on Oct 22, starting at Town Hall and ending at the corner of Grinage Street and Main Street. Attendees can expect to see dancing zombies, giant puppets and other interesting sights.

Krewe Ga Rou is accepting applications for vehicles and walking groups. The participation fee is $50 for a specialty vehicle or $50 for a group of up to 20 people. Groups of more than 20 are required to pay a $75 participation fee. Adults over 18 with a driver’s license may drive decorated specialty vehicles including 4-wheelers, go-carts, lawn mowers or other small vehicles. The festival also invites decorated boats to be pulled as floats in the parade.

A 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place award will be presented to the best decorated vehicles and best decorated boats.

About Rougarou Fest

The Rougarou Fest is a family-friendly festival with a spooky flair that celebrates the rich folklore that exists along the bayous of Southeast Louisiana. It is also the primary fundraiser supporting the South Louisiana Wetlands Discovery Center, a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization that is revolutionizing how we think, teach and learn about Louisiana’s disappearing coast.
