Downtown Houma is set to host the sixth annual Rougarou Fest presented by Chevron on Saturday, October 21 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, October 22 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Rougarou Fest is a family-friendly festival with a spooky flair that celebrates the rich folklore that exists along the bayous of Southeast Louisiana. It is also the primary fundraiser supporting the South Louisiana Wetlands Discovery Center, a nonprofit organization that is revolutionizing how we think, teach and learn about Louisiana's disappearing coast. Spigots Brew Pub located at 622 Barrow St. of Houma has won the 2017 Rougarou Fest Official Cocktail Contest with its Harvest Howler recipe. The winning cocktail blends Captain Morgan's Jack-O-Blast Pumpkin Spiced Rum, Original Spiced Rum, apple cider, cranberry juice and a slash of orange juice to create a fall-infused drink. Captain Morgan is the Spirits Sponsor for this year's Rougarou Fest and is the official rum to be served at the festival.
