The 2nd Annual Roux For A Reason Gumbo Cook-Off will be held from 12 pm to 3 pm on Saturday, March 24th, 2018, in Downtown Houma. The event will be centrally located on Belanger St., in the parking lot behind Mardi Gras Hall, and may expand to cover additional blocks up to Main Street and Barrow Street.

Roux For A Reason raises funds to provide free, early detection cancer screenings and prevention information to the community through the Mary Bird Perkins and its Early Bird Mobile Medical Clinic.

General admission is $10 and features a live band and as much gumbo as you can eat. Prizes will be awarded to the best competing teams. Those interested in forming a team for the cook-off or being an event co-sponsor should visit rouxforareason.org or contact a Roux For A Reason staff person for more information. Team registration includes a $100 donation. Sponsorship options include several benefits including at least one team entry.
