TOHSEP to Offer Advanced SkyWarn Class on March 27, 2018

The Terrebonne Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness will host Advanced SkyWarn training by the National Weather Service from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on March 27, 2018, at Joseph L. Waitz Emergency Operation Center, 101 Government St., Gray.
The class offers a look into the world of extreme weather and discusses how to report dangerous weather observations. The course covers in greater detail storm structure, tornadogenesis, basic parameters NWS meteorologists look for to determine severe storm potential and basic radar meteorology.
Attendees should first take the Basic SkyWarn Storm Spotter Class to have a basic foundation for the more advanced topics covered in this course. If you have not attended a basic training class or if you would like a refresher, please watch the these three short videos:
