Sandbag Distribution Due to High-Water Conditions of the Atchafalaya River in Morgan City

****SANDBAG DISTRIBUTION SITES****

As a precautionary measure due to the potential of backwater flooding from the current high-water conditions of the Atchafalaya River in Morgan City, Terrebonne Parish President Gordon Dove has authorized the Parish's Public Works Department to begin distributing sandbags to the public beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, March 21.

The following location will provide prefilled sandbags (25 per vehicle) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays only:

  • West Terrebonne Central Fire Station -116 Merry Moss Street, Gibson

The following locations will be self-serve and open to the public 24-hours per day, 7 days a week until the event is over. These sites require residents to fill their own sandbags and it is recommended that residents bring their own shovel:

  • Gibson East Fire Station - 5218 North Bayou Black Drive, Gibson
  • Devon Keller Memorial Center - 5575 Bayou Black Drive, Gibson
  • Bayou Black Fire Station - 2820 Savanne Road, Houma
