The Road to 2040

The Houma-Terrebonne Metropolitan Planning Organization (HTMPO) is soliciting public input from any interested persons concerning the development Houma-Thibodaux Metropolitan Transportation Plan – MTP 2040. The plan is updated every 5 years and acts as a blueprint for guiding elected officials toward meeting the transportation needs of their constituents. It proposed how the transportation resources should be managed and serves as the framework for transportation investment decision through the year 2040. Further information about the plan, the update process and an opportunity for Public Comment will all be part of a series of meetings, scheduled for the following dates and times:

  • May 21, 2014, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
    Madewood Room of the Harang Auditorium located at 310 N Canal Blvd, Thibodaux, LA 70301

  • June 2, 2014, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
    Conference room of the Airport Commission located at 10264 E Main St, Houma, LA 70363

  • June 4, 2014, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
    Large conference room of the North Branch Library located at 4130 West Park Avenue Gray, LA 70359

  • June 9, 2014, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
    Versailles room of the Larose Civic Center located at 307 E 5th St, Larose, LA 70373

  • June 16, 2014, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
    Napoleonville Community Center located at 4770 Louisiana 1, Napoleonville, LA 70390

These meeting have been scheduled to encourage public involvement in the development of the plan, which will consider transportation needs associated with:

  • Infrastructure
  • Safety
  • Pedestrian and Bicycle
  • Transit/Travel Demand Management/Vanpooling
  • Ozone and Particulate Matter (Air Quality)
  • Freight

Representatives of Low Income, Minority, and Native American communities are encouraged to attend.

Interested citizens may attend the meeting or view the MPO’s existing Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP 2035) at the South Central Planning & Development Commission offices located at 5058 West Main Street, Houma, LA 70360-4900 or online at http://htmpo.org/MTP.aspx.  Questions, comments or suggestion concerning this plan, can be directed to Leo Marretta, MPO Administrator.  Any person needing reasonable support to be able to attend these public meetings, should contact Leo Marretta, MPO Administrator leo@scpdc.org, (985) 851‐2900, P.O.
