Solid Waste

Primary responsibilities of this division are to maintain the vegetation along parish roads, streets, levees, drainage laterals, drainage canals, boulevards, cemeteries and various locations around the parish, which includes grass cutting and tree trimming. With a work force of approximately 16 employees, the responsibilities of this division vary considerably performing the following:

• coordinate contractual services for selected areas of the parish
• manage vegetation maintenance contractors with respect to drainage levees, laterals, city parks, boulevards, cemeteries and various locations.
• participate in parish wide beautification programs (landscaping)
• coordinate grass cutting and tree trimming with other departments
• control vegetation growth within the city limits near sidewalks and curbs
