The primary goal of the Office of Community Development (OCD) is to improve the quality of life for the Parish citizens. It consists of three programs:
All work together to achieve this goal.
The Community Development Block Grant promotes the viable development of communities by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment, and expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate income.
The HOME Investment Partnership Program is designed to provide local participating jurisdictions with flexible dollars to develop affordable housing strategies specifically targeting low-income residents.
The Emergency Solutions Grant Program provides emergency shelter assistance to eligible families at the Beautiful Beginnings Center. Due to the damage caused by Hurricane Ida, the shelter is closed until further notice.
Up to $45,000.00 in grant funds are available for newly constructed homes in Parkwood Place Subdivision. Potential homebuyers must have a household income at or below 80% of median and qualify for a mortgage with a local lender.
