There are several programs available from the federal, state and the parish governments to help people recover from flood damage. The information on this page is intended to give some information on the funding, which properties are eligible for which programs, and some forms that the Parish will use for upcoming applications for funding. Properties that are substantially damaged are required by the Parish floodplain ordinance to elevate, relocate or demolish the property within three years of being determined to be substantially damaged. These programs help pay for homes and businesses to avoid future flood damage. There are no programs at this time to assist with elevations or other mitigation methods for homes that have not had flood damage to the living area of the home.
Due to the number of flood damaged properties in Terrebonne Parish, there is rarely funding available to help everyone who wishes to participate. Each program below is voluntary for both the property owner and the Parish. The Parish will make the final decision about which properties are included in applications for funding. Until an application is approved and the Parish has issued a final offer of assistance, there is no promise of funding.
Parish staff does not run the federal or state programs, so questions related to those programs should be directed to the contacts given for those programs. The information is provided on the web site as a courtesy to inform the public of their options. This is not a complete list of all moneys available for hazard mitigation or storm recovery relief.
