Our Mission

The Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government's Head Start Program provides comprehensive services for low-income children and families. These services include:

  • high quality early childhood education
  • nutrition
  • health
  • mental health
  • social services
  • strong parent involvement
Classroom Hours of operation for all Head Start Centers is 8:30 am to 3:00 pm

The mission of the Head Start Program is to produce self-sufficiency and self-esteem by educating children and their families today for a better tomorrow.

Head Start Policy Council Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month at 5:00 p.m. All meetings are held at the Church Street Head Start Center located at 1116 Church Street, Houma, LA 70360.

The Policy Council is the Head Start governing and decision-making board. The Policy Council includes a representative and alternate from each Head Start center and also has three Community Representatives that serve on the board.
