Terrebonne Parish President

Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government stands prepared to meet and respond to any crisis that may threaten our residents, visitors, and businesses. In recent years, drastic changes have been made to improve our ability to disseminate information quickly and accurately during natural disasters and other critical situations. In addition to traditional media outlets (radio, newspaper, and television), we have expanded our reach online via social media, the Parish website, reverse 911, and mass text messaging systems. Evacuation and sheltering plans have also been improved significantly. For category 1 and 2 storms, in-parish shelters are made available to residents. For major storms, a point-to-point sheltering agreement is in place with the City of Monroe. We've also focused on promoting education and providing resources to residents on establishing their own disaster plans. These include evacuation plans, communication plans, and necessities, such as food, water, medications, personal items, pet items, etc. We also strongly encourage assisting your neighbors, especially the elderly and those with special needs in times of crisis.

Residents who are interested in assisting during crisis events can join our Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). Contact Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness at (985) 873-6357 or oep@tpcg.org for more information. While crisis events may be unexpected and unpredictable, we are equipped with tools and resources to respond swiftly and appropriately to ensure our residents and economy can recover with minimal disruptions.
