
Natural Gas Tip: How to Recognize Gas or Pipeline Leaks
Think you’ve stumbled onto a gas leak? Check for the following signs nearby:
- a strong decaying smell
- dirt, grass, or leaves blowing from an area around a pipeline
- continuous bubbling in wet or flooded areas, or in marshlands, rivers, creeks, or bayous
- a hissing or roaring sound caused by escaping gas
- fire rising from the ground or valves along a pipeline route
