Houma Elks Lodge to Hold Annual Flag Day Ceremony June 16

The Houma Elks Lodge #1193 will hold their annual Flag Day Ceremony on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at the Houma Elks Lodge at 7883 Main Street, Houma, LA  70360. The public is invited to attend, and refreshments will be served after the ceremony. 

President Woodrow Wilson's June 14, 1916 proclamation established Flag Day, but it was not observed nationally until Elks member, President Harry Truman, signed an act of Congress in 1949. The Houma Elks perform their Flag Day Ceremony each year along with other lodges throughout the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Panama Canal.
