The South Louisiana Wetlands Discovery Center will hold its annual summer camp from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 5-9 and June 12-16 for campers ages 9-12.
Campers will take field trips to exciting wetlands venues and then return to the Bayou Terrebonne Waterlife Museum to discuss their experiences and participate in other fun activities. The Wetlands Explorer Camp (June 5-9) focuses on what makes our coast special and the Working Coast Camp (June 12-16) explores our natural resources.
Camp activities include a Bayou Terrebonne Waterlife Museum Scavenger Hunt, USDA Sugarcane Research Station Tour, T. Baker Smith Tour, Wildlife Gardens Swamp Tour, A Cajun Man’s Swamp Tour, Greenwood Alligator Farm tour and MORE!
The Wetlands Discovery Center’s summer camp is made possible by a grant from ConocoPhillips. Camp tuition is $135 per week and includes ALL field trip costs. There is NO REGISTRATION FEE! Registration for the camp is on a first come, first served basis with only 30 students being accepted per week. For more information about the camp call 580-7289.
Art instruction for students in 2nd through 12th grade. Different teachers each day teaching different mediums such as watercolor, acrylic, collage, and drawing.
Cost is $40/week. Classes are June 12-16, June 19-23, July 10-14, and July 17-21. Classes for grades 2-5 are from 10 a.m. to noon, and classes for grades 6-12 are from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
