The Terrebonne Parish Animal Shelter is at maximum capacity for dogs due to increased intake during the summer. Shelter staff sent out an urgent plea to animal rescue organizations, asking for help with transferring dogs out of the shelter. Boudreaux’s Animal Rescue Krewe (B.A.R.K.) in Alexandria, LA responded and is set to load more than fifty (50) dogs on their 48’ animal transport vehicle on Wednesday, August 1, 2018. The dogs will be transported to Buffalo, New York at a later date where they will be adopted into permanent homes.
All of the dogs are being spay/neutered by the Terrebonne Parish Animal Shelter’s veterinarian before leaving. The Friends of the Terrebonne Animal Shelter, a local non-profit support group for the Terrebonne Parish Animal Shelter, secured a donation from People’s Drug Store in Houma, LA to cover the cost of the spays/neuters eligible for transport. “Our staff and volunteers are so very grateful for all of our partners and supporters who come together to make saving more lives possible,” said Terrebonne Parish Animal Shelter Manager Valerie Robinson.
