TPCG shall be starting a major capital improvement project to install a one-Megawatt Emergency Generator near the rear side of the Robert ”Bobby” Bergeron Government Tower building beginning Monday, October 21, 2019.
This will affect the traffic flow and parking lot arrangement per the attached drawing. The Barrow Street Parking Lot layout will remain unaffected by this project. The orange and white dots on the drawing depict traffic cones that will assist with the traffic flow. Note that there will no longer be any entrance into the parking lot areas from the Gabasse Street side of the building during the length of the project. A revised layout will be sent to the public to allow designated parking for early voters the week before early voting begins.
The generator has enough power to operate the entire building including the air conditioning system and is bi-fuel, meaning it can run on either diesel or natural gas. This project is anticipated to take eight months to complete.
