In an effort to show appreciation to those serving in our military, Parish President Michel Claudet is asking the residents of Terrebonne Parish to be aware of the “Troops First” program.
This program encourages residents to voluntarily allow military personnel in uniform to get ahead of them in line in establishments throughout the community. This could include allowing troops to jump ahead in line at the supermarket, movie theater, or the post office. These simple actions allow everyone to show their gratitude to our troops in a meaningful manner that is easy, requires little time, and costs nothing.
The “Troops First” initiative was originally promoted by Wichita Falls, Texas in order to show thanks to the countless number of service men and women stationed at nearby Sheppard Air Force Base.
“This and other acts of appreciation are the least we can do for those serving in our military,” said Parish President Michel Claudet. “This initiative could easily be termed “Heroes First” because of the tremendous courage and sacrifices of our troops,” added President Claudet.
