Tropical Storm Isaac Update
Parish President Michel Claudet issued a Declaration of Emergency earlier today as a result of Tropical Storm Isaac.
In addition to this declaration, Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government will issue a voluntary evacuation beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Monday (August 27) morning, for the low lying areas of Terrebonne Parish especially those residents who reside outside the protective levee system. This voluntary evacuation is due to the possibility of storm surge flooding of roadways and yards from Tropical Storm Isaac.
Also, all Terrebonne Parish public schools will be closed on Monday and the Terrebonne Parish School Board will notify the public of school closures going forward.
Terrebonne Parish will also open a shelter at the Houma Municipal Auditorium located at 800 Verret Street. The shelter will open at 9:00 a.m. on Monday morning.
Residents needing transportation to the parish shelter should contact the Terrebonne Parish Council on Aging at (985) 868-8411 beginning Monday morning. Those residents with medical special needs that require shelter should contact the Louisiana Department of Health at
1-800-228-9409.
Those going to the parish shelter should bring food, water, bedding and any other necessary supplies such as medications and baby supplies they will need to sustain them and their families for 72 hours (3 Days), as these items WILL NOT be provided at the shelter.
