Officials Tout Ease of Using Residential Drop-off

Officials Tout Ease of Using Residential Drop-off Locations for Garbage and Debris Terrebonne Parish President Michel Claudet in conjunction with the parish Solid Waste Department would like to remind citizens that Terrebonne Parish’s residential drop-off sites for garbage and debris provide a free and convenient alternative to illegal dumping. Indeed, these parish-operated sites provide a free outlet for the disposal of items such as used tires and appliances as well as day to day garbage. The locations and hours of operations for these sites are as follows: • Ashland site- 227 Ashland Landfill Road (Open seven days a week from dawn to dusk) • Schriever site- Isle of Cuba Road (8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday thru Saturday) • Montegut site- Crochetville Road (8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday thru Saturday) Terrebonne Parish residents can utilize these sites to drop off bulky waste items including mattresses, batteries, cement, gas tanks (must be empty and clean), propane tanks (must be empty with valves removed), and tires (limit 5 tires per person per day, the first 4 tires are free, charges apply for the 5th tire). In addition to using these facilities, residents can contact the Solid Waste Department at (985) 873-6739 to schedule the pickup of debris or unwanted appliances. “As we continue to make Terrebonne Parish a cleaner community, it is my hope that residents take advantage of these facilities,” stated Parish President Michel Claudet. “Our great staff in the Solid Waste Department is working continuously to be responsive and accessible to our residents,” added President Claudet. # # #
