TPCG to Consider Levying Additional/Increased Millage Rates

July 8, 2011 Notice is hereby given pursuant to Article 7, Section 23 (C) of the Constitution and R.S. 47:1705(B) that a public hearing of the Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government will be held at its regular meeting place in the Council Meeting Room, on the 2nd Floor of the Government Tower, 8026 Main Street, Houma, Louisiana 70360, on Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at 6:30 P.M. to consider levying additional or increased millage rates without further voter approval or adopting the adjusted millage rates after reassessment and rolling forward to rates not to exceed the prior year’s maximum. The estimated amount of tax revenues to be collected in the next tax year from the increased millage is $36,539,765 and the amount of increase in taxes attributable to the millage increase is $913,738. It should be noted, Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government is required to levy millages by ordinance, which must be introduced by resolution at least two weeks prior to the public hearing and adoption. Discussion and introduction of the ordinance will be considered at the Budget and Finance Committee of August 8, 2011, with subsequent Public Hearing and adoption scheduled for August 24, 2011 at 6:30 P.M.
