Hurricane Isaac Pm Update 8-28-2012

Hurricane Isaac PM Update Terrebonne Parish officials continue to monitor conditions associated with Hurricane Isaac. Parish President Michel Claudet issued a Declaration of Emergency on August 26, 2012. Curfew: Terrebonne Parish has issued a parish wide curfew beginning tonight (Tuesday, August 28) at 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2012. Anyone in violation of this curfew will be stopped and questioned by law enforcement officers. This curfew is being issued to ensure the safety of residents and could be extended as weather conditions warrant. Evacuations: Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government issued a Mandatory Evacuation for the following low-lying areas of the parish: •Dularge- South of Dr. Beatrous Rd. bridge near the Dularge Gym •Grand Caillou-South of Woodlawn Ranch Rd. •Little Caillou- South of Lacache Middle School •Montegut -South of Montegut Fire Station •Pointe aux Chenes-South of Pointe Aux Chenes Elementary School The following areas are under Voluntary Evacuation: •Dularge - South of the Dularge overpass due to potential highway flooding near the beginning of LA Hwy 315 •Little Caillou-South of Duplantis Bridge to Lacache Middle School •Areas south of the Klondyke bridge covering lower Bourg, upper Montegut, and upper Pointe aux Chenes Shelters: Terrebonne Parish has a shelter open at the Houma Municipal Auditorium located at 800 Verret Street. Residents needing transportation to the parish shelter should contact the Terrebonne Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness at (985) 873-6357. Those going to the parish shelter should bring food, water, bedding and any other necessary supplies such as medications and baby supplies they will need to sustain themselves and their families for 72 hours (3 Days), as these items WILL NOT be provided at the shelter. A temporary pet shelter is open at the West Houma Gym on Williams Avenue. This temporary shelter is ONLY available for the pets of those residents who are staying at the parish shelter at the Municipal Auditorium. Closures: All Terrebonne Parish public and private schools are closed until further notice. All classes at Fletcher Technical Community College are cancelled through Wednesday. All Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government offices will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. The following parish bridges have been closed to marine traffic since at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday August 28, 2012 and will remain closed until further notice: •Bayouside Drive Bridge •Bobtown Bridge •Brady Bridge •Buquet Bridge •Chauvin Bridge •Combon Bridge •Duplantis Bridge •Klondyke Bridge •Smithridge Bridge #1 •Theriot Bridge •Tousassant Foret Bridge (Pellegrin) The Dulac Pontoon Bridge on Falgout Canal Rd. will remain open to marine traffic until further notice. Parish Services: The parish’s public transit system, Good Earth Transit, has suspended service in Houma and Thibodaux until further notice. Garbage collection service has been suspended and will remain suspended until further notice. Bulky waste pick up requests have been suspended. The Crochetville, Ashland, and Schriever residential drop off sites are closed until further notice. The Ashland pick up station has ceased accepting commercial waste at this time. Miscellaneous: All town hall meetings scheduled for this week have been canceled. Residents with livestock in the southern portions of the parish are encouraged to move their livestock to higher ground. All dialysis clinics in the parish will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Dialysis patients are directed to follow their emergency diet. Terrebonne Parish residents are encouraged to report power outages directly to their providers: City of Houma (985) 873-6750, Entergy 1-800-9OUTAGE, and SLECA 1-800-256-8826. # # #
