The mission of the Solid, Hazardous, and Recycling Waste Department is to:

• collect, transport, and dispose of solid waste for our customers in an efficient, effective, and environmentally responsible manner
• provide for proper disposal of household waste, commercial waste, trash, and debris
• promote customer education as to the proper method of disposal of solid waste
• provide for a clean, safe, and enjoyable environment for our customers and our employees
• implement an efficient operation to save taxpayers' dollars and promote overall customer satisfaction

• Ashland Sanitary Landfill opened 1981
• Ashland Pickup Station opened 1999
• Averages approximately 300,000 tons of waste per year
• Provides recycling of scrap metal, newspapers and used oil
• Operates Solid Waste Crochetville and Schriever pickup stations
