It was truly a beautiful day to celebrate a beautiful new building and program in Terrebonne Parish. Terrebonne Parish School Board Superintendent, Ed Richard and Terrebonne Consolidated Government President, Michel Claudet joined Head Star Administrator Diane Powell and Darrel Waire, Terrebonne Parish Housing and Human Services Director in cutting the ribbon at the Grand Opening Ceremony of the new Head Start Building in Schriever.
This new facility can accommodate as many as 44. Presently there are thirty- four enrolled. The location, near Schriever Kindergarten, is convenient for sharing and coordinating activities. Diane said that this accomplishment has taken over 6 years to become reality. Darrel Waire stated that the building can withstand 150 mph winds. His goal was to build something that would not only satisfy the need for years to come in size, but safety as well. The facility is like no other Head Start program in the State. Ed Richard said that this is truly a “model” for others to follow. Parish President, Michel Claudet, stated what a great example of teamwork this is. The School Board and Housing and Human Services have worked cooperatively together to make this happen in Terrebonne Parish. School Board Superintendent praised Diane Powell and her staff for their tireless efforts and commitment.
