State and Federal programs are available to address the needs of low-income families that reside in Terrebonne Parish. In addition to those, State, Federal, and local programs are available to help people recover from flood damage through the RAMP program.

Floodplain Management Programs
Flooding is an issue for many residents in Terrebonne Parish. Much of the land is low or below sea level. The main source of flooding in the parish is rain, but in late summer, hurricanes and storm surge also pose a serious threat.

The Section 8 Choice Voucher Program provides rental assistance payments directly to a participating landlord under a contract executed between the Public Housing Agency (Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government) and the landlord on behalf of an eligible participant.
