PARISH PRESIDENT CLAUDET TO PROCLAIM FINANCIAL LITERACY DAY IN TERREBONNE PARISH
Gov. Jindal also proclaims Financial Literacy Education Days in Louisiana
The Society of Louisiana CPAs (LCPA) and Junior Achievement (JA) will host the 2nd Annual Financial Literacy Day on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Coteau-Bayou Blue Elementary. CPAs and other concerned community volunteers will teach students about work readiness, entrepreneur ship, and money management through age-appropriate, hands-on activities.
Terrebonne Parish President Michel Claudet will be on hand to kick off the event. He will proclaim LCPA-JA Financial Literacy Day in an effort to encourage all Terrebonne Parish citizens to do their part in helping children succeed as future members of the local and global economy. Claudet, a CPA himself, will visit students in the classrooms as they take part in the day's activities.
A statewide proclamation has also been issued by Governor Bobby Jindal declaring April 28-30 as Financial Literacy Days in Louisiana.
Over 4000 students across Louisiana (480+ at Coteau alone) will spend a day participating in JA activities as presented by LCPA members and other volunteers. They will share their time and knowledge to teach important business ideas that will help children progress as future members of the workforce.
