Pet Services
Pet Surrender
If you feel you must surrender your pet, complete this Owner Surrender Form and a team member will contact you to schedule an appointment.
Before surrendering your pet, we strongly recommend having a veterinarian give vaccines (particularly distemper/parvo and bordetella) to help
protect your pet, as your pet will be stressed and exposed to other animals with unknown medical histories in the shelter environment.
Note: While our team aims for positive outcomes for all animals,
there is no guarantee your pet will be rehomed due to the volume of animals that need our assistance.
Rehoming Resources
As the pet’s owner, you have the best chance of finding your pet a new home.
Below are rehoming resources:
- Notify friends, relatives, neighbors, and co-workers.
- Post signs at your local veterinarian’s office or pet-related business.
- Use social media to help spread the word.
- Rehoming websites

The Inner Pup offers a Veterinary Assistance Grant program for incidental and chronic issues that are causing a pet pain and suffering.
This program provides sponsored veterinary visits for low-income owners of pets who are not otherwise able to access veterinary care. These grants are meant to close a
small gap in care and most grantees are approved for $250 worth of care. This program is available for both cats and dogs! See information about the program here and apply here.
Please note this program does not handle emergencies.
CareCredit – The CareCredit healthcare credit card helps to manage veterinary expenses, everything from routine exams to unforeseen emergencies. It is subject to credit approval, the amount of credit extended depends on your credit rating, and you must make sure the veterinarian you’re using accepts CareCredit.
TPAS offers low-cost spay/neuter. For more information, visit our Spay/Neuter webpage.
TPAS may be able to assist with you in a time of need with our Pet Pantry. Email animalshelter@tpcg.org or call (985) 873-6709 to request assistance.
Population Control (Spay/Neuter)
Operation: Reduce Population is our low cost spay/neuter program for pets in our community. This low cost program is designed to reduce the number of unwanted animals in our community. Spaying/neutering your animal is an EXTREMELY important part of its care. By doing so, your animal will typically want to stay home more, be less aggressive, and not contribute to the overpopulation problem that exists in Terrebonne Parish and so many other places. The staff of TPAS understands that the COST of the spay/neuter surgery is the PRIMARY reason that owners give for not spaying/neutering their pets. Now, there is an AFFORDABLE option for those who are interested.
