Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government’s Crew Leader – Mowing is responsible for overseeing vegetation crew in the maintenance of public passageways and other assigned areas throughout Terrebonne Parish.
In this role, the incumbent will be expected to supervise assigned crew
members, ensures safety compliance, maintains equipment readiness, and
completes work order documentation.
The Crew Leader – Trees is also expected to direct daily work activities related
grass cutting, tree and bush trimming, and minor landscaping within public
rights-of-way.
The role includes supporting downtown beautification efforts, camera
maintenance, and assisting with seasonal and emergency response operations.

- Valid Louisiana driver’s license
- Supervise and direct crew activities related to vegetation maintenance, including grass cutting, tree trimming, and bush clearing in public rights-of-way.
- Conduct daily tailgate meetings to review assignments, safety protocols, and crew readiness.
- Load and prepare trucks, trailers, and gas cans for daily operations.
- Review and assign daily work orders using the MGO system; close out completed tasks and ensure accurate documentation.
- Conduct daily inspections of equipment including chainsaws, blowers, weed eaters, and vehicles; report issues to the supervisor or mechanic.
- Safely park vehicles, assess property conditions, and determine appropriate equipment for each job.
- Ensure all crew members are equipped with and properly using required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of equipment including oil changes, blade replacements, and greasing; oversee weekly washing of units and upkeep of tools.
- Secure equipment in trailers and travel to next assigned location.
- Organize and maintain supply bins in work trucks to ensure readiness and efficiency.
- Train new employees in field operations, safety procedures, and equipment use.
- Assist with camera maintenance at designated locations throughout the parish.
- Support downtown operations including placement of American flags and banners for holidays and events.
- Participate in annual activities such as Mardi Gras cleanup, hurricane response preparation, and Christmas decorations.
- Participate in quarterly One-on-One meetings with Supervisor.
- Complete all required annual trainings—including ethics, harassment prevention, diversity, and cybersecurity—in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Ensure all duties and responsibilities are performed with integrity, professionalism, and in good faith, consistently upholding and protecting the interests, reputation, and assets of the Parish government.
- Perform any additional task as required by Supervisor.
- Leadership Skills: Effectively supervises and motivates crew members, ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with operational goals while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.
- Time Management: Prioritizes and coordinates daily work orders, crew assignments, and equipment readiness to maintain consistent productivity.

- Organizational Skills: Maintains structured schedules, accurate work order documentation, and well-organized equipment and supply inventories.
- Technical Skills: Demonstrates proficiency in operating and maintaining landscaping equipment including zero-turn mowers, chainsaws, trailers, and while performing basic mechanical tasks including blade replacement, oil changes, and equipment greasing. Proficiently operates office software such as Microsoft 365 and the MGO work order platforms.
- Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED certificate.
- Minimum of one (1) years of experience in vegetation maintenance or related field preferred.
