Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government’s Utility Technician is responsible for testing, calibrating, repairing, and maintaining metering, instrumentation, and control devices associated with all power plant systems.
In this role, the incumbent will be expected to ensure accurate monitor and control of critical processes, including turbine-generators, boilers, condensers, feedwater systems, cooling towers, and auxiliary systems, maintain detailed equipment history records, perform scheduled inspections, and respond to equipment malfunctions to support continuous plant operations.
The Utility Technician requires strong technical knowledge of electrical, electronic, and mechanical principles, the ability to interpret technical diagrams, and proficiency in operating and maintaining the Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS).

- Valid Louisiana driver's license
- Inspect, calibrate, adjust, repair, and replace components of control and
instrumentation systems for main and auxiliary plant equipment.
- Operate and maintain the Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) and
generate required compliance reports.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and sketches for
installation, troubleshooting, and modifications.
- Maintain metering and gauge functions related to flows, pressures,
temperatures, volumes, and other critical parameters.
- Perform scheduled calibration of instrumentation and control devices to
ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Maintain systematic records of inspections, repairs, and equipment
performance history.
- Assist maintenance teams and contractors with instrumentation-related tasks
during routine operations and major overhauls.
- Report discrepancies and equipment malfunctions promptly to supervisors.
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and standards applicable to
electrical and mechanical trades.
- Participate in safety meetings and training sessions; administer first aid and
resuscitation in emergencies if required.
- Respond to emergency situations and provide support across plant operations
as needed.
- Participate in quarterly One-on-One meetings with Supervisor.
- Complete all required annual trainings—including ethics, harassment
prevention, diversity, and cybersecurity—in accordance with organizational
and regulatory standards
- Ensure all duties and responsibilities are performed with integrity,
professionalism, and in good faith, consistently upholding and protecting the
interests, reputation, and assets of the Parish government.
- Participate in quarterly One-on-One meetings with Supervisor.
- Complete all required annual trainings—including ethics, harassment prevention, diversity, and cybersecurity—in
accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Ensure all duties and responsibilities are performed with integrity, professionalism, and in good faith, consistently

- Perform any additional task as required by Supervisor.

and minimize operational disruptions.

implement accurate corrective measures.
- Communication Skills: Communicates clearly and professionally with team members, supervisors, and external
stakeholders to ensure accurate information exchange and coordinated actions
- Organizational Skills: Maintains detailed records of equipment history, calibration schedules, and compliance reports
while coordinating multiple tasks efficiently.
- Technical Skills: Possesses advanced proficiency in testing, calibrating, and maintaining instrumentation and control
systems, including the ability to interpret schematics and operate specialized test equipment.
- Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED Certificate preferred.
- Formal technical training in electronics, instrumentation, or related fields preferred.
- Minimum three (3) year of experience in instrumentation maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting within
an industrial or power plant environment.
