TPCG, Start Corp Team Up to Build Home for Family Displaced by Hurricane Ida

TPCG and Start Corp. partnered to use funds from the HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) to build an affordable, single-family home for the Perrault family after they were displaced by Hurricane Ida.

When Perraults' home was destroyed in the storm, the family of five lived in a hotel out of town for six months. They moved into a state-approved camper while the home was being constructed.

HOME funds can be used for grants, direct loans, loan guarantees, or other forms of credit enhancements, rental assistance, or security deposits.

On November 8, 2022, vice president of Bayou Region for Start Corp., Greg Gleason; director of Housing and Human Services for TPCG, Kelli Cunningham; and assistant director/community development administrator of Housing and Human Services, Antoine Foret, hosted a ribbon cutting at the new home.

"After living in fight or flight mode for over a year and having anxiety daily, I'm so grateful to finally be home. Home. I haven't been able to say that in over a year," said Mrs. Perrault.
