Terrebonne Parish President Michel Claudet would like to announce the ongoing efforts to make recycling easier and more efficient for residents in Terrebonne. First, Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government is seeking participation in a proposed residential curb-side recycling program. The cost of participation would be $10 per quarter ($40 per year) for weekly collection of eligible recyclables including most paper, cardboard, plastics, and tin and aluminum cans. One recycling container will be provided to each participating household for the storage and collection of mixed (single stream) recyclables. Once begun, this program would replace the current Community Recycling Program (drop-off bins) in the established service area. This program can only be offered if a minimum number of residents in an area subscribe. Those interested in registering for the proposed curb-side program can do so by:

• Registering on-line at www.tpcg.org/recycling
• Emailing recycling@tpcg.org
• Calling the Solid Waste Division at (985) 873-6767
• Subscribing at the TPCG Customer Service Department located at the Government Towers Building, 8026 Main Street in Houma or at Consolidated Waterworks District #1 office located at 8814 Main Street (corner Howard Avenue)

In addition to the curb side recycling program Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government has added two additional community recycling bins to the area. These bins are located in the Southland Mall parking lot in the vicinity of the Sears loading dock as well as the parking lot of the Dularge Recreation Center located at 1330 Dr. Beatrous Road. The locations of the remaining six recycling bins are unchanged and are as follows:

• Bayou Cane Fire Station (6166 West Main Street)
• Concord Shopping Center (1238 Saint Charles Street)
• Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center (346 Civic Center Blvd.)
• American Legion Hall (602 Legion Avenue)
• Little Caillou Fire Station (5016 Highway 56)
• East Houma Shopping Center/Bingo Hall (Grand Caillou Road)

Residents are also reminded that these bins accept paper, plastics, and aluminum recyclables in a single-stream fashion; there is no need to separate or bag your recyclables. “Our recycling program is gaining momentum every day,” explained Terrebonne Parish President Michel Claudet. “We encourage everyone to get more information and to register for our convenient curb-side recycling program,” added President Claudet. # # #
