Level Up at the Library: 2025 Summer Reading Program Begins May 27
The Terrebonne Parish Library System is thrilled to announce the return of its annual Summer Reading Program, running from May 27 to July 25, 2025, with this year’s theme: “Level Up at the Library.”
This summer, readers of all ages are invited to power up their imaginations, sharpen their reading skills, and unlock new adventures through books, creativity, and fun. The Summer Reading Program encourages community members—from toddlers to adults—to read at least 20 minutes a day. Participants will track their progress using printed game board reading logs and earn a prize for every five days of reading completed. Each five-day milestone also earns an entry into the end-of-summer raffle, with prizes awarded at each of the library’s seven branches. Prize categories include:
- Birth to Kindergarten: Free admission ticket to the Audubon Institute
- 1st to 6th Grade: A bicycle and helmet, donated by the Kiwanis Club and friends of the Terrebonne Parish Library, plus a safety demonstration by the Houma Police Department
- Teens & Adults: Gift bags featuring local goodies and surprises
In addition to the reading challenge, participants can enjoy a wide variety of library programs, including interactive crafts, exciting performances, story times, and take-home activities (while supplies last). A full schedule of events is available on the library’s online calendar at www.mytpl.org.
Summer Feeding Program: As part of our partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank, select story times across library branches will feature snack packs for children to enjoy during activities. Event dates and participating locations will be announced soon. The Terrebonne Parish Library System extends its sincere thanks to all sponsors and community partners who help make this summer celebration of reading and learning possible.
